Google Now (a new Android App) – uses Zillow listings

While some in the industry view this as a game changer (such as 100 Watt Consultings’ Brian Boero) because brokers do not have a similar platform, others such as Atlanta REALTOR Ryan Ward, contend that this makes Zillow’s innaccuracies all the more problematic.   His contention is that “Google is outsourcing its own real estate search results to Zillow, a company they should have researched better. Had they done so, they never would have allowed their results to be as mangled as Zillow will provide them with.”

Whether it will be a “game changer” seems to hinge on whether Google NOW as an android app takes off. Google’s tacit endorsement of Zillow’s often innaccurate listings does open the door for Apple and others to use other means to obtain the data from a more accurate source.

  1. I agree with Ryan! The search results are full of duplicate content. From the same domains of Zillow and Trulia. Pages of them!

  2. I agree. It is crazy for Google to rely on information from zillow & trulia. This really opens the door for Apple to make a huge move.

  3. I think that the big problem will be that Google, by its actions, will be perceived to be legitimising Zillow’s search results.
