The consolidations however don't really feel like they are a good thing. I have seen comments posted by ML executives that their longer term intent is to reduce the number of authorized IDX vendors, perhaps significantly. So which IDX vendors are next on the chopping block? And when? And how are those decisions going to be made? Depending on the results, we could see many smaller brokerages and independents driven out of business by the costs of migrating to other IDX vendor products, especially if the final group of available products are not as SEO friendly and do not generate the same lead pipelines we are used to and need to generate business to pay our agents and ourselves. It is possible that only the large and cash rick brokerages would survive this fiasco. It sure smacks of anti-competitive behavior to me.

As a MetroList member, but not a DS user, my main concern is where this goes next. Since it's also an easy platform to create, many people in the real estate business are capitalizing on this. However, it's also important to make sure that something as convenient should provide quality. Some people are losing touch of quality for marketing's sake.

Blogging has become a very powerful tool for marketing. The government, indeed, needs to find a way to truly revive the market. Increasing the tax credit seems more like disillusioning people on what they can really pay for.

Increasing the tax credit seems to be a good way to “reawaken” the market but as it was mentioned in the previous comments, this can only be helpful to a certain extent. You can find curtains, floor treatments, couches, and art and then a photo to show how it might look. Create different looks for the same room, and find a wider audience.

Pinterest is fantastic for Real Estate. At this time, we really do not know the facts other than there is no longer an agreement in place. The good can be agents change to perhaps a better IDX solution long term. To think there are not other good solutions is short sited. When Dominion bought Advanced Access, #1 Agent, etc, many of the agents moved on to better websites as a result. The same could be the case here.Unfortunately, we all could be a victim to this kind of problem if your current IDX provider decides to sell, gets bought out, etc. I hear a lot of agents complain about Zillow, but now that someone slapped the gorilla Zillow down, it seems to be a different tune. And, maybe this is not really over yet and a new song has yet to be sung?

Change can sometimes be good.
